Medical expenses, e.g. hospital stays and the cost of medication.
Additional expenses, e.g. travel and accommodation costs for a close relative if the insured is seriously injured, becomes severely ill, or dies while abroad.
Medical transport, e.g. an extra airline seat required for the insured to return home after illness or injury abroad.
Necessary additional expenses for return travel to Iceland if the insured is forced to interrupt their stay abroad due to the death, serious accident, or sudden and serious illness of specified close relatives.
Reimbursement of vacation costs if the insured is forced to interrupt the trip before it is halfway completed, or has spent at least half of the trip in hospital.
Accidents occurring during competitions or training sessions in preparation for competitions in any type of sport.
Accidents occurring during mountain climbing, rock climbing, boxing, wrestling, motor vehicle and motorcycle sports, hang gliding, parachuting, scuba diving, or other similar activities.
Accidents occurring during gliding, aerobatics, participation in expeditions, big game hunting, or journeys that may be classified as exploration expeditions.
Accidents suffered by the insured in physical altercations, during participation in a criminal act, or while under the influence of narcotics or alcohol—unless it is proven that the condition had no connection to the accident.
Accidents resulting from tanning, medical treatment, surgery, or the use of medication, unless the treatment was prescribed due to a covered accident.
Accidents caused by the use of recreational drugs or the use of medication, unless the medication was prescribed as treatment for a covered accident. Accidents due to the use of painkillers or sleeping pills are always excluded.
Illnesses related to childbirth, abortions, or occurring in the ninth month of pregnancy.
Illness or accidents resulting from alcohol, substance, or drug abuse.
Chronic illnesses resulting from an accident for which the insured received medical treatment within 12 months prior to the start of the trip.
Continued treatment abroad if the insured refuses to return home despite medical advice to do so.
Medical treatment abroad lasting longer than three months.
Medication without a prescription, prosthetics and dentures, glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, etc.
