Equality
Arion's policy is to make the most of its human resources through a diverse workforce, by ensuring equal opportunities and terms for all staff regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, origin, nationality, colour, age, disability, religion, or other status.
Arion's equality and human rights policy
Arion's policy is to respect human rights and equality in all its operations. Arion places emphasis on creating an environment where people with comparable education, work experience, and responsibilities have equal opportunities and terms, regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, origin, nationality, colour, age, disability, religion, or other status. Any form of discrimination goes against this policy and is prohibited under equality legislation no. 150/2020 and the act on equal treatment in the labour market no. 86/2018.
Job openings shall be available to everyone with the required education and experience, regardless of gender or other status.
Staff in comparable positions shall have equal access to further education, continuing education, and job training, regardless of gender or other status.
Arion shall work systematically towards gender balance in work units, job categories, and committees, to bring in a range of perspectives.
Staff shall, as far as possible, be able to balance their work duties with their family responsibilities. Arion shall promote flexibility at work and a healthy work-life balance. Arion supports and encourages all staff to make use of their parental leave entitlement.
Bullying, sexual or gender-based harassment, and violence will never be tolerated at Arion, and staff must report such behaviour to the appropriate parties if they become aware of it.
Arion places emphasis on creating an equality-minded, positive workplace where all staff are treated with respect and different viewpoints are valued.
Throughout Arion's value chain, including in procurement and in lending to companies, Arion seeks to ensure that international human rights and equality standards are upheld.
Equal pay policy
It is Arion's policy to comply with equality legislation no. 150/2020, as subsequently amended, and all other rules and laws providing that women and men shall not be discriminated against and that individuals shall receive equal pay for work of equal value.
To support this equal pay policy, Arion follows the Icelandic standard ÍST 85:2012 on equal pay systems. Under this standard, pay criteria must be set in advance and must not involve direct or indirect gender-based discrimination, nor discrimination on other grounds such as race, sexual orientation, religion, or nationality. This policy applies to all staff.
In line with the law, and to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement, Arion is committed to obtaining equal pay certification following an audit of the company's equal pay system by a certification body, and to making improvements wherever needed.
