Guard assistant coach of the Höttur Basketball League
Vörður Insurance and Höttur Basketball Division have entered into a three-year partnership agreement. Under the agreement, Vörður will become the division's main sponsor, and Höttur's home court will also bear the name Varðarhöllin.
Through this partnership, Vörður supports strong work across all age groups, from the youngest participants to the senior divisions. This new collaboration is part of Vörður's journey to support sports and community activities in its local area. The partnership includes, among other things, the Vörður logo being featured on the competition uniforms of all teams within Höttur's Basketball Division. Vörður has been expanding its operations in East Iceland and opened a new branch in Egilsstaðir two years ago.
An exciting period lies ahead for Höttur, as the men's team earned promotion to the Bónusdeild (top division) last season.
Höttur's home court, located at the Sports Centre in Egilsstaðir, will receive a new name and will henceforth be known as Varðarhöllin. The new name will be visible in connection with home games and other basketball events hosted by Höttur, marking a new chapter in the collaboration between the sports movement and the business community in the region.

"This agreement is of great importance to Höttur Basketball Division and strengthens our foundation for continuing to build ambitious programmes for participants of all ages. It means a great deal to feel this support from a strong company that wants to contribute to the community," says Ásthildur Jónasdóttir, Chair of Höttur's Basketball Division.
The first event under the new partnership was held on 22 October in connection with the first home game of the season, where Höttur and ÍR faced off in the men's division.
At half-time, guests were invited to take part in a shooting competition where they had the chance to win a generous gift card from the Vaski store in Egilsstaðir.
The agreement was signed by Guðbjörg Heiða Guðmundsdóttir, CEO of Vörður, and Ásthildur Jónasdóttir, Chair of Höttur's Basketball Division.
