To initiate repairs

Here is information about repair shops that have agreements with the company and can be selected to carry out repairs on your vehicle.

Please contact your chosen repair shop to schedule a damage assessment. The repair shop will inspect the damage, take photos, prepare a repair estimate, and submit it to Vörður for approval. The repair shop will then arrange a repair appointment with you.

Rental car or loss of use

Those who have suffered a loss can choose to:

• Receive a rental car

  for the standard repair period* in consultation with us. Vörður covers the cost of a Category A rental car while repairs are underway. Repair shops can assist in arranging a rental vehicle. Information about rental companies with agreements with us can be found here.

• Receive compensation for loss of use

  amounting to ISK 5,000 per day for the standard repair period*. If you choose this option, please send an email to

  once the repair is complete. At that point, the final number of days the vehicle was in the workshop will be confirmed, and the compensation will be calculated accordingly.

Would you like a cash settlement for the damage?

If you prefer to receive compensation instead of having the vehicle repaired, you must take the vehicle to a repair shop for a damage assessment.

Vehicles that are subject to a lien or owned by a financing institution require approval from the lienholder for the claim to be paid out. If the vehicle is owned by a financing institution, compensation will be paid to them unless they authorize otherwise.

Is your vehicle undrivable?

If your vehicle was undrivable and removed from the scene, please contact our claims assessors at +354 514 1177 or via email at bkaup@vordur.is. They will inspect the vehicle at the earliest opportunity and contact you regarding next steps.

* Standard repair time depends on the extent of the damage. Normal waiting time for spare parts can be up to 14 days.
