Here you will find information about workshops that have a contract with the company and can be selected to carry out repairs on your vehicle.
Contact the workshop of your choice to schedule a damage assessment appointment. The workshop will inspect the damage, take photos, prepare a repair estimate, and submit it to Vörður for approval. The workshop will then arrange a repair appointment for you.
Those who experience damage have the option to:
Receive a rental car for the normal repair period* in consultation with us. Vörður covers the cost of a Category A rental car for the duration of the repair. Workshops can assist in arranging a rental car. Information about rental car companies with agreements with us can be found here.
Receive a loss-of-use payment of ISK 5,000 per day for the normal repair period*. If you choose to receive a loss-of-use payment, please send an email to tjon@vordur.is once the repair is completed, at which point the final number of days the car was at the workshop will be confirmed and the amount calculated accordingly.
If you wish to receive compensation for the damage instead of having your vehicle repaired, you will need to take it to a workshop to have the extent of the damage assessed. It is important that you inform the workshop that no repair is requested, so that a spare parts order is not initiated.
Once the damage assessment is received, the company's claims assessor will be in contact with you, or you can send an enquiry to tjon@vordur.is or by phone at 514 1000. Here you will find information about approved workshops that can be selected.
Vehicles that are subject to a lien or owned by a financial institution must obtain authorisation from the lienholder in order for the damage payment to be released. If the vehicle is owned by a financial institution, the compensation will be paid to them unless the relevant financial institution authorises otherwise.
If your vehicle was undriveable and removed from the scene, please contact our claims assessors by phone at 514-1000 or by email at tjon@vordur.is. They will inspect the vehicle at the earliest opportunity and be in touch with you regarding next steps.
The normal repair period depends on the extent of the damage. A normal waiting period for spare parts can be up to 14 days. You are welcome to get in touch if anything is unclear by phone at 514 1000 or by email at tjon@vordur.is.*
