Insurance can be complicated. To make things easier to understand, we have compiled all the key information about the insurance in an information document that can be viewed with the terms and conditions.
Travel medical and trip interruption insurance
Unavoidable costs arising from the insured person being injured, falling ill, or dying while travelling abroad, such as hospital expenses or additional costs due to illness, e.g. hotel costs.
Costs of returning home, such as medical transport costs on medical advice, flight changes and/or air ambulance.
Transportation of a deceased individual.
Additional costs for returning to Iceland due to serious illness or death of immediate family members.
Travel accident insurance
Temporary loss of working capacity due to accidents occurring during travel.
Permanent medical disability due to accidents occurring during travel.
Death benefits due to accidents occurring during travel.
Compensation for dental injuries attributable to an accident during travel.
Luggage insurance
Damage to luggage caused by fire, theft, or transport accidents, as well as loss of baggage during transport.
Trip cancellation insurance
Travel costs up to the insured amount that have been paid in advance or agreed to be paid and are non-refundable.
Loss if the insured person or close relatives, such as a spouse, child, or parents, suffer a serious accident, sudden illness, physical injury, or other comparable event confirmed by a physician with a medical certificate stating that the person in question is unfit to travel.
Travel medical and trip interruption insurance
Medical expenses incurred during 36 weeks of pregnancy, childbirth, or abortion.
Medical expenses related to ongoing medical treatment. Medication costs for medicines the insured uses regularly before the trip began.
Travel accident insurance
Accidents occurring during competition or training in preparation for competition in any kind of sport.
This exclusion does not, however, apply to children under the age of 18. Accidents occurring in boxing, any form of wrestling and martial arts, motorsports, rock climbing, mountaineering, scuba diving, skydiving, bungee jumping, hang gliding, and paragliding.
Accidents in which the insured is involved in an unlawful act or participation in a criminal offence.
Disc herniation, frostbite, joint gout, osteoarthritis, or other rheumatic diseases.
Death benefits if diseases, infirmity, or a morbid condition of the insured are contributing causes of their death.
Luggage insurance
Money, tickets, traveller's cheques, promissory notes, bonds, or other securities.
Fragile items.
Damage caused by moths, pests, atmospheric conditions, weather, or normal wear and tear.
Damage caused by liquids, food, or other contaminating substances.
Trip cancellation insurance
Cancellation due to any kind of illness or disease that existed before the insurance was taken out or at the time the confirmation fee was paid.
Cancellation due to illness occurring after the 36th week of pregnancy.
Cancellation due to injuries self-inflicted by the insured or damage caused by the insured themselves.
